Projektbeschreibung

About the role

The post is funded through a SarcoidosisUK Research Innovation Award and will contribute to a research project using linked UK electronic healthcare records to better understand the diagnostic and treatment pathways experienced by people living with sarcoidosis. You will undertake analyses to characterise symptoms, healthcare interactions and diagnostic delays prior to sarcoidosis diagnosis, as well as investigate patterns of oral corticosteroid prescribing and their association with adverse health outcomes. Working closely with clinical researchers and people with lived experience of sarcoidosis, you will help generate real-world evidence to support earlier diagnosis, safer treatment and improvements in patient care.

What you would be doing

You will utilise large datasets of linked electronic health records and undertake data management and epidemiological analyses to investigate diagnostic and treatment pathways in people with sarcoidosis. You will characterise symptoms, healthcare interactions and diagnostic delays prior to diagnosis, and examine patterns of oral corticosteroid prescribing and their association with adverse health outcomes. You will contribute to developing study protocols, preparing research outputs and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting and disseminating findings. You will work closely with epidemiologists, respiratory clinicians and people with lived experience of sarcoidosis and may also contribute to other related projects within the research group. This position would suit an early-career researcher with an interest in epidemiology, health data science and respiratory research who is looking to further develop their research skills and career.

What we are looking for

  • A first / masters degree (or equivalent) in Statistics, epidemiology or other relevant quantitative discipline.
  • Knowledge of using electronic healthcare record data to study respiratory disease.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to continue science for humanity.
  • Grow your career: gain access to Imperial’s sector-leading dedicated career support for researchers as well as opportunities for promotion and progression.
  • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 43 days off a year and generous pension schemes).
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.

Further information

You will be embedded in the Respiratory Electronic Health Record group, led by Prof Quint and work with global collaborators.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week).

This role is for a fixed-term contract for approximately 12 months, expected start date of 4th Jan 2027 until 31 Dec 2027.
