Your mission

We are looking for a curious and methodical research assistant to join the Medical Management research group at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME), Karolinska Institutet. You will primarily work within two EU projects, APOLLO 2028 and THCS CoCare, in close collaboration with researchers, health care organizations and international project partners. With support from the responsible researchers, the role combines qualitative research with practical project coordination.

APOLLO 2028 is an international research project funded by the EU's Horizon Europe programme. The project aims to develop research-based and innovative solutions to improve the mental health, well-being, and resilience of healthcare professionals in rapidly changing work environments. The focus is on identifying factors at the individual, organizational and middle-management levels that affect the mental and physical health of staff. The goal is to develop cost-effective tools and models that strengthen leadership and collaboration in healthcare, as well as to promote sustainable work environments in the face of everyday and extreme challenges.

THCS CoCare examines how an ecosystems approach can support health system transformation, with a particular focus on hospital care at home (hospital@home).

The project addresses collaboration among patients, family members, health care professionals and health care organizations, care co-production, organizational learning, and the development of new models for health care organization and delivery.

As a research assistant, you will:

  • Contribute to study planning, interview guides, ethics applications and participant recruitment, and conduct and document qualitative data collection, such as interviews, focus groups and observations, with support from the responsible researchers.
  • Process, document and analyze qualitative data in collaboration with the research group, using transparent analytic procedures and responsible handling of research materials.
  • Contribute to literature reviews, scientific reporting and project reporting to the EU
  • Support coordination and follow-up of project activities, participate in international project meetings, and present preliminary findings to researchers and health care stakeholders.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:

  • A completed master's degree (one- or two-year) in health economics, policy and management, public health, health services research or another relevant field. A doctoral degree is not required.
  • Documented experience of qualitative data collection through interviews and qualitative analysis, acquired, for example, through a degree project or work in research projects.
  • Documented experience of contributing to the conduct and scientific reporting of a study, from study design through data collection and analysis to manuscript submission. The manuscript does not need to have been accepted for publication.
  • Documented experience of conducting literature reviews, such as scoping reviews.
  • An interest in health care organization and leadership, staff working conditions, well-being and resilience, and organizational learning and the development of care models.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both in speech and writing
  • Ability to work independently, in a structured manner, and with high integrity

Meritorious qualifications Experience of:

  • work in research projects in the health care sector
  • Using NVivo or equivalent software for qualitative analysis.
  • Communicating and collaborating with different health care professions
  • International and interdisciplinary research collaboration, project coordination or presenting research findings to different stakeholder groups.
  • Research or development work on resilience, organizational learning, patient safety, care co-production or hospital@home.

In the assessment, we place particular emphasis on personal qualities, relevant methodological skills, accuracy, integrity and the ability to plan and follow up tasks. We value constructive collaboration, a willingness to learn, and a solution-oriented approach to delays, changing timelines and different perspectives in international projects. This includes identifying practical problems and proposing appropriate next steps in consultation with the responsible researchers. Experience and independence are assessed in relation to the research assistant role; previous peer-reviewed publications are not required.
