Projektbeschreibung

Given that, in today’s world, communication networks are ubiquitous and virtually all applications and services are networked, high-performance, resilient, and secure communication networks are essential for a functioning society and economy. The growing diversity of applications —particularly driven by artificial intelligence and big data— places increased and novel demands on communication networks. At the same time, AI also opens up new opportunities for their design. At KIT, Division II —together with the Institute of Telematics (TM) and the KIT Department of Informatics— is shaping these strategically significant topics. In this context, we are establishing a

Your tasks

  • Research: You will conduct research on methods, architectures, and protocols for communication networks, aiming for objectives such as very high data rates, low latency, adaptive and efficient traffic engineering, and routing to address the challenges of complex systems—such as the future Internet.
  • Key Focus Areas: To achieve your research objectives, you may work on the following specific research areas: network architectures and protocols, programmable, verifiable, and autonomous networks, resilient and sustainable network systems, mobile communication and non-terrestrial networks, networks for distributed AI and AI-driven network control, the Internet of Agents, the Quantum Internet, Internet Measurement, as well as network and infrastructure security.
  • Teaching: You will teach nine semester hours per week in the bachelor's and master's computer science programmes. Your courses are also open to students from other disciplines.

With this university professorship, you will assume leadership of an organizational unit at the Institute of Telematics (TM).

Your profile

  • You possess outstanding scientific qualifications and are internationally recognized in the field of „Computer Networks“.
  • You excel in leading research teams and in securing third-party funding, and you also demonstrate excellent didactic skills.

Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 47 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges).

Salary

Salary is governed by the statutory provisions of the State of Baden-Württemberg and comprises the basic salary of salary grade W3.

In addition, the granting of performance-related pay components is possible. The family allowance is paid, where applicable, in accordance with civil service law.
