Zuyd describes itself as close-knit, sincere and full of trust: it believes everyone is unique with their own talents, and it gives students, staff and partners the room to develop and use them. Its students regularly rate their programmes highly, and Zuyd ranks among the top of the large Dutch universities of applied sciences. Zuyd offers bachelor's and master's programmes and courses in fields including business and economics, engineering and built environment, ICT, health care and allied health, social work, the arts (through the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design, the conservatoire and the theatre academy), hospitality (through Hotel Management School Maastricht), and teacher training and translation. Its practice-oriented research is organised in research groups led by professors of applied sciences (lectoren), on themes such as smart urban redesign, data intelligence, healthy and sustainable living, autonomy and participation of people with chronic illness, and the creative industries, connecting students with the professional field and the Euregio.
