Descripción del proyecto

The Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich (Leibniz-LSB@TUM), a legal foundation under civil law based in Freising, is a prominent member of the Leibniz Association. Our institute integrates cutting-edge biomolecular research, bioinformatics, and high-performance analytical technologies to explore the complex interactions between the human organism and food components.

The Transcriptome & Proteome Profiling research group at Leibniz-LSB@TUM is currently seeking a motivated Master’s student to begin a thesis project starting in June 2025.

Master’s Student (m/f/d) - Thesis

“Optimization of CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) Reactions on Microarrays”

Duration: 6 months

We are looking for a talented and motivated student specializing in chemistry, molecular biology, or biochemistry to contribute to our groundbreaking research. The project focuses on optimizing CRISPR reactions on microarrays to deepen our understanding of CRISPR-based technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth literature research to support experimental design.
  • Critically evaluate and discuss experimental results.
  • Assist in the synthesis of microarrays and the optimization of CRISPR workflows.

Ideal Applicants must Have:

  • The ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the principles of good scientific practice.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of molecular biology, with practical lab experience being highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience with cell culture is considered an advantage but is not mandatory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

What we offer:

  • A responsible and engaging role in a leading university research environment.
  • A supportive, friendly team eager to collaborate.
  • Flexible working hours to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
  • Hands-on experience with microarray design, synthesis, processing, and analysis.
  • Training in CRISPR-Cas9 assays, both in vitro and in vivo.

In the case of essentially reciprocal suitability, severely-disabled applicants as defined in SGB IX will be preferred.
