Team Lead Clinical Trials RIO

Mater Research are looking for a Clinical Trials Team Leader to join the team! This is a two-year fixed-term role in a full-time capacity at 38 hours per week. This position will be based at out South Brisbane campus.

This role provides strategic leadership and operational management of the Oncology stream within the Respiratory, Infection, Oncology Clinical Trial Unit. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality research aligned with institutional and regulatory standards. Employees at this level independently oversee all aspects of trial coordination, resource allocation, and team performance while driving process improvements and compliance. They are accountable for financial management, workforce planning, and risk mitigation within their team. As key leaders, they contribute to Mater Clinical Trials' strategic goals through collaboration, quality assurance, and professional development initiatives.

Salary: $65.21- $69.73 per hour (MCT5) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

• Accountable for the management of material and human resources for the Oncology stream within the Respiratory, Infection, Oncology Clinical Trial Unit.
• Are responsible for the overall oversight of the clinical trial activities undertaken by the team and for the team (e.g. by external service providers), in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and as per individual study delegations.
• Collaborate with other Clinical Trial Team Leaders to facilitate the provision of high-quality clinical trial services across Mater
• Lead and coordinate a team of clinical trial staff to deliver high quality research care to study participants
• Provide financial management, budget preparation, and cost controls within the clinical trial team(s) including proactive management of staff leave
• Allocate workloads to staff in the clinical trial team to ensure current and future trials are appropriately resourced and quality research outcomes can arise from the team’s activities.
• Undertake risk assessment and management at the team level
• Identify team skill-mix requirements and undertakes recruitment activities to ensure an appropriate skill mix and level of staffing is maintained.
• Ensure staff within the team maintain currency with relevant professional registrations and standards, as relevant for their individual roles
• Provide complex problem solving via critical thinking and reasoning.

About you

Required qualifications and experience:

• Relevant bachelor’s degree and post-graduate qualification with experience deemed suitable by Mater, or
• Relevant bachelor’s degree and extensive experience deemed suitable by Mater.
• AHPRA nursing registration, without restrictions, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in nursing and experience in oncology research
• Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and experience negotiating and liaising effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (e.g. patients, families, clinic and non-clinical staff, sponsors, CROs)
• Demonstrated computer literacy and proficient use of standard Microsoft suite of applications
• Current ICH GCP certification, with a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the relevant guiding principles for clinical trial activities.
• Proven ability to exercise judgement and initiative for actions within a range of procedures, precedents, rules or guidelines.
• Proven ability to apply lateral thinking to solve problems and identify alternatives, taking into consideration appropriate procedures, precedents, rules or guidelines.
• Proven ability to coordinate the determination of timelines and priorities in consultation with clients and peers.

Desired qualifications and experience:

• At least 2 years relevant experience managing staff in a research or complex healthcare environment.
• Substantial experience working and coordinating and leading projects in a clinical research environment.
• Developed leadership and management skills
• Experience managing direct reports
