It serves… The Academy of Fine Arts of Catania (Accademia di Belle Arti di Catania) is a state academy within the Italian AFAM system of higher education in art, music and dance, whose degrees are equivalent to university first- and second-cycle qualifications. It serves eastern Sicily from its seat in the baroque centre of Catania. The academy teaches painting, sculpture, decoration, scenography, graphic art and design, fashion design, communication and multimedia art, photography, restoration and the historical, theoretical and technical disciplines that accompany them, at both bachelor's and master's level. It runs exhibition and performance activity in the city, and its teaching and technical posts are filled through the public competitions used throughout the Italian state academy system.
