Student Assistant (HiWi) - Qualitative Research on Migration and Health (max. 37 hours/month)

The Department of Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention of the German Cancer Research Center conducts studies to close the gap between evidence and policy.

As part of a new project, the experiences of Turkish immigrants are being explored using qualitative research methods to better understand barriers and facilitators to cancer screening participation.

To support our team in this project, we are seeking, starting at the earliest date possible, a

Your Tasks

• Conduct qualitative in-depth interviews with Turkish-speaking migrants in Mannheim on their experiences with and access to cancer screening (in Turkish and/or German, depending on participant preference)
• Support recruitment of interview participants, including outreach within local Turkish communities and networks
• Transcribeinterview recordings
• Translate interview transcripts and materials between Turkish, German, and English

Your Profile

• Enrollment in a master's program in public health, sociology, anthropology, migration studies, or a related social science field
• Fluency in Turkish and German; working knowledge of English
• Prior experience with qualitative in-depth interviewing, transcription, or translation is a plus
• Sensitivity and cultural competence in engaging with migrant communities, ideally around sensitive health topics
• Reliable, independent, and organized work style
• Interest in cancer prevention, migration research, or public health
• Willingness to travel within Mannheim for interviews (some flexibility for remote transcription/translation work possible)
