Description du projet

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is one of Europe’s largest cancer research centers. “Research for a life without cancer" is the mission of our world-class scientists and all our team members.

We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and search for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. The Department of Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention at the DKFZ conducts research to bridge the gap between scientific evidence, policy, and practice. Our mission is to accelerate the translation of evidence into effective cancer prevention strategies and ensure that evidence-based interventions reach diverse populations.
Through interdisciplinary research and collaboration with stakeholders from different sectors, we work to understand implementation challenges and develop approaches that improve public health outcomes.

To strengthen our team, we are seeking, starting the earliest possible date, a

Your Tasks

As a student assistant, you will support ongoing research activities related to cancer prevention and health communication among Arabic-speaking communities in Germany. This includes:

  • Supporting stakeholder interviews in Arabic, including participant recruitment, communication, scheduling, and interview coordination
  • Assisting with qualitative data collection activities
  • Conducting literature and document reviews
  • Supporting the development and testing of health information materials
  • Assisting with engagement and communication activities with community partners and stakeholders

The position is primarily on-site, with limited flexibility for remote work.

Your Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolment at a university or college for the duration of the activity, preferably in a bachelor’s or master's degree program (from the first semester onward)
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic
  • Working proficiency in English; German language skills are an advantage
  • Availability to work primarily on-site at DKFZ in Heidelberg, with occasional field visits
  • Careful, reliable, and independent working style
  • Confidence in professional communication and coordination with community members and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative interviews/supporting participatory research or health communication activities

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Coursework or practical experience in implementation science, health services research, public health, or health policy
  • Previous experience working with communities or stakeholders in Germany
  • Familiarity with the German primary care or healthcare landscape
