Tenure Track position for a Technologist in Knowledge and Project Management

Fondazione Bruno Kessler is a private research institution devoted to excellence in research across numerous disciplines and designed to keep the Autonomous Province of Trento at the forefront of European and international research. Workplace Description

The Center on Sustainable Energy (SE) supports the development of devices and methods for generation, storage, and distribution of energy solutions at low environmental impact. This will be done in the perspective of energy sustainability, of systems and solutions that respect the environment and the quality of life, of solutions with a lower impact on health and on environmental pollution levels. The ground for the Center on “Sustainable Energy” is based on the Decarbonization targets, which will demand for more flexibility of the energy system, through new gas and power grids and using energy vectors and storage solutions, as enablers for the wide penetration of renewables.

Within this strategic framework, inside Fondazione Bruno Kessler, the Center for Sustainable Energy is involved in activities that maximise the impact of research and innovation in different channels of knowledge, such as communication, dissemination and exploitation. This relevance is part of an overall strategy of positioning the internal assets of the Center towards the different stakeholders in the Scientific, Industrial, Institutional domains.

Job Description

The purpose of FBK’s Tenure Track program is to offer high-level professionals the opportunity to pursue a structured career path to become tenured researchers contributing to the organisation's long-term strategy. Within this framework, FBK is seeking to fill the position with a dynamic, highly motivated, independent technologist in the field of Knowledge and Project Management.

The position will focus on the strategic development and coordinated management of research and innovation projects and research&technology infrastructures. Working closely with the Center’s leadership, research units, laboratory managers and administrative services, the selected candidate will contribute to communication, dissemination, exploitation and project management both in projects and internal activities.

The role will connect project development and funding opportunities with the effective use of research capabilities, knowledge valorisation and industrial collaboration. It will also support synergies with other research infrastructures and the Center’s participation in relevant national and European networks, programmes and strategic initiatives.

Main Tasks:

The successful candidate will work within the FBK-SE Center and her/his responsibilities will include: Develop and implement knowledge management processes to capture, organise and share research outputs, expertise and lessons learned across the Center in compliance with FBK Corruption Prevention and Transparency Unit and ISO 9001; Support the dissemination, exploitation and valorisation of research results, in collaboration with researchers, industrial partners and FBK’s technology transfer services; Support the strategic communication of the Hydrogen Hub maximizing the sharing of knowledge through different distribution channels; Maintain an updated overview of research capabilities, project results and strategic assets, facilitating their use in new proposals, collaborations and innovation activities; Promote knowledge exchange across research units and project teams, identifying synergies and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration; Support the identification of relevant funding opportunities and help in proposal development, including partner engagement, work plans, budgets and expected impacts; Support project management in research and innovation projects in collaboration with scientific leaders and administrative services, coordinating activities, timelines, deliverables and resources, monitoring progress, risks and dependencies, and facilitating corrective actions and reporting.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate should have: Master's Degree in Political Science, Business Administration, or similar; Knowledge Management: Proven experience in organising and sharing research knowledge, mapping expertise and results, and supporting their reuse and valorisation across projects and teams; Project Management and Monitoring: Demonstrated ability to support scientific leaders in planning and implementing research and innovation projects, monitoring deliverables, timelines, budgets and risks, and coordinating reporting with administrative services; Funding and Partnership Development: Experience in identifying national and European funding opportunities, contributing to proposal preparation, and engaging research, industrial and institutional partners; Oral and written proficiency in English (at least level B2); Self-motivation and result orientation; Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills; Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Furthermore, the following elements will be positively evaluated: Certifications in Project Management.

Employment

Type of contract: Tenure Track position leading to an FBK 3rd Level Technologist (T3) permanent contract.

Duration: The duration of the Tenure Track contract will be determined by the Committee based on the assigned KPIs (at least one year, which may be reduced in accordance with the Committee's assessment of the candidate's abilities and skills). If the final assessment of the Tenure Track experience is positive, the selected candidate for the tenure track position will be offered a permanent T3 contract.

Working hours: full-time (38 h per week).

Gross annual salary: €47.182,01 (plus objectives achievement bonus).

Start date: December 2026
