Introduction
- Are you inspired by phase transitions of processes on networks?
- Are you fascinated by random graphs?
- Are you eager to work in a dedicated team, on the frontiers of mathematics?
Job Description
Within the ERC Advanced Grant Project Dynamics on and of Random Graphs (Dynamics.oRG) of Remco van der Hofstad, we are looking for 3 PostDocs working on phase transitions of stochastic processes on random graphs. Such processes model, amongst others, the spread of infections and consensus reaching. The challenge is to get a grip on the double randomness of stochastic processes on the random environment formed by random graphs. Does the random environment change the nature of the phase transition, and, if so, when, why and how? The aim of the ERC project is to develop a deep mathematical understanding of such phenomena.
You will be working in a team of PhD students, PostDocs and key collaborators, to tackle these challenging problems as a team, while working also on your own project. You will further contribute to societal impact of the mathematics of network theory beyond your core research project.
Job Requirements
- Motivated researcher, with a PhD in probability, statistical mechanics, random graphs, or a comparable domain.
- Ability to conduct high-quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs.
- Intrinsic motivation to do research.
- A team player who enjoys coaching PhD and Master's students and working in a dynamic team.
- Motivated to develop your teaching skills and coach students.
- A proven ability to manage complex projects to completion on schedule.
- Excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English, good communication and leadership skills.
