The Kent and Medway Medical School are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Research Assistant to join them and the Kent IBD Research Collaborative, a joint academic and clinical initiative bringing together expertise in gastroenterology, colorectal surgery and translational science to improve the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside clinicians, academics and researchers within one of the region's developing multidisciplinary IBD research programmes. You will contribute to all stages of the research process, from study conception, regulatory approvals through to data collection, statistical analysis, publication and dissemination of findings.

As a Research Assistant, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of medical and surgical IBD research projects, e.g. planning, preparing, setting up, conducting and analysing research
  • Administrative tasks including planning and organisation of research activities and the implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Supporting and preparing research ethics and research governance applications as appropriate

What will you bring to the role?

  • Previous experience in scientific research
  • Knowledge of statistics and data analysis
  • Report and scientific writing skills

As a member of our team, you can expect a friendly, open and collaborative working environment and support in your development and wellbeing. You'll enjoy a range of great staff benefits including:

  • Hybrid working options allowing a flexible blend of office and home working (to be agreed in line with business needs)
  • 43 days' leave per year (personal leave, bank holidays and additional days allocated for the Christmas period, pro rata for part-time staff)
