Project Description

The role

The School of Mathematics is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (analogous to Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer in Pure Mathematics, with the level of appointment depending on the experience of the successful candidate. We are looking for a world-class researcher in Logic or Set Theory. We interpret these areas broadly, and although preference would be given to a candidate in set theory, it is not limited to such, and candidates in other areas of modern logic, such as computability theory, model theory and proof theory, are encouraged to apply.

What will you be doing?

The post-holder will be affiliated with the School’s Institute for Pure Mathematics and will be responsible for their own research programme, undertaking independent research. The post-holder will also teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and take on appropriate administrative duties. They will be a key member of the Logic and Set Theory Group at Bristol, which is an internationally leading centre for research in set theory and the philosophy and foundations of mathematics.

You should apply if

  • You have a passion for developing and leading innovative and impactful research in Logic and Set Theory.
  • You have demonstrated the self-motivation, initiative, and organisational skills required to carry out a successful research programme.
  • You have a proven publication record in internationally recognised, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
