Project Description
Research Fellow (30 hours, fixed term - 12 months)
Job description
Leeds Beckett University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary research team undertaking an externally funded systematic review of interventions for fathers and male carers experiencing multiple and complex needs.
Funded by Foundations, this 12-month project will identify what works, for whom and under what conditions, to inform the development of evidence-based support for fathers, male carers and their families.
Working across the Carnegie School of Education, School of Health, and School of Social Sciences and Humanities, you will contribute to a systematic review that will inform a subsequent practice review and generate recommendations for professionals working with families experiencing multiple and complex needs. The findings will strengthen the evidence base on parenting support and help inform the development and delivery of interventions that better respond to the needs of fathers, male carers and their families.
About you
We are looking for a researcher with experience of conducting or contributing to systematic reviews or other evidence synthesis projects, a strong eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality research.
You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work accurately and methodically with research evidence. You will be confident working independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities and contributing effectively to the delivery of a time-limited research project.
An interest in parenting support, family interventions and the experiences of fathers and male carers with multiple and complex needs would be particularly welcome.
About the team
You will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team led by Dr Nicole Gridley from the Carnegie School of Education and Professor Sharon Vincent from the School of Health. The project brings together expertise across education, health and social sciences and humanities to address an important area of family support research.
Why join us?
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to research with clear potential to inform professional practice and improve support for fathers, male carers and their families.
You will have the opportunity to develop your evidence synthesis expertise, work collaboratively with researchers across disciplines, and contribute to translating research findings into practical recommendations for professionals working with families experiencing multiple and complex needs.
If you are an organised and thoughtful researcher who is passionate about high-quality evidence and its application to policy and practice, we would welcome your application.
Closing date: Monday 16th November 2026 (23:59)
Working here means you’ll have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, flexible working, reduced study fees, subsidised fitness facilities and a lot more.
We welcome applications from all individuals and particularly from black and minority ethnic candidates as members of these groups are currently under-represented at this level of post. All appointments will be based on merit.
