Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford), Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford

Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) is home to world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based at Oxford Population Health, the Demographic Science Unit (DSU) is at the forefront of demographic research that aids society, government and industry. The DSU is home to the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science, an interdisciplinary research centre funded by the Leverhulme Trust and directed by Professor Melinda Mills which aims to disrupt and realign how we measure and model populations by infusing new types of data, methods and unconventional approaches to tackle the most challenging demographic problems of our time. We are looking to recruit highly capable Researcher in Data Science and Informatics who will have the responsibility for carrying out research in methodological developments and access facilitation related to large scale population register resource utilisation. Working with Associate Professor Charles Rahal and with the wider team of data scientists in the Demographic Science Unit and the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science at the University of Oxford, the post holder will also provide guidance to junior members of the research group including research assistants, PhD students, and/or project volunteers. To be considered for the role you will hold a PhD/DPhil. You will have specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research projects and methodologies, with a substantial focus on methodological developments for evidence extraction of academic articles at scale. Ability to manage own academic research and excellent communication skills are also essential. The position is part time at 20% FTE and fixed term for 18 months. The closing date for applications is noon on 5 November 2026. You will be required to upload a CV and a cover letter as part of your online application.
