The Hull York Medical School (HYMS) at the University of York seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (Teaching & Research) in public health nutrition to provide senior leadership across research, teaching, learning, assessment, and impact strategy. You should have a strong research profile and specialised knowledge that complements our existing themes, including public health nutrition, food systems and policy, school food, food insecurity, growth and development and action-oriented research methodology.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to partner with Professor Bryant in leading the group, supporting funding activities, and driving forward strategic research development, management, and teaching initiatives.

Role

The post will generate innovative research methodologies, secure external funding and publish high-impact work to establish national and international academic leadership. They will lead, coordinate, and manage research projects and teams within the Public Health Nutrition team, overseeing resources, staff recruitment, line management, and high-level governance, while driving research impact and knowledge exchange activities. They will also undertake key administrative and managerial duties, contributing to university governance, professional bodies and the wider academic community.

In teaching, the post will design, deliver, and update academic modules and interdisciplinary programmes in line with university quality standards. They will apply innovative teaching methods to inspire students, supervise staff and research students, as well as conducting assessment, marking, and feedback.
