This full-time position, available at 80-100% FTE, focuses on modelling novel malaria vector control interventions. The role involves developing and calibrating statistical and mathematical models to analyze mosquito population dynamics and malaria transmission using entomological and epidemiological data. Candidates must hold a PhD in statistics, mathematics, or related fields, with strong programming skills in Python, R, Matlab, or C/C++. Responsibilities include running large-scale simulations, analyzing field data, and collaborating with research partners. The position starts on February 1, 2027, for two years with renewal options, located in Allschwil. Applicants should submit their CV, motivational letter, and diplomas via the online recruiting tool.

Project Description
Swiss TPH advances global health through research, education and impact. For over 80 years, we have generated scientific evidence, strengthened capacity, and created solutions that reach millions. From malaria and tuberculosis to cancer and climate-driven health risks, we tackle the most pressing challenges of our time. Associated with the University of Basel, 950 people from 90 nations work in partnership across 120 countries, taking science to impact in Switzerland and worldwide.
Our research spans basic science, epidemiology and implementation science. It addresses infectious and non-communicable diseases from biological mechanisms and disease patterns in populations to health systems and policy. Our researchers combine experimental, clinical and population-based approaches, evaluating interventions under real-world conditions. The Disease Modelling Group is currently looking for a Senior scientist or postdoctoral scientist in modelling novel malaria vector control interventions.
Applying statistical and mathematical modelling and simulation to improve understanding of impact of novel vector control interventions, with a focus on spatial emanators, on mosquito population dynamics and malaria transmission and disease burden.
