Project Description

Visiting Lecturer - Human Biology

UNIVERSITY OF CHESTER

CENTRE FOR FOUNDATION STUDIES

Visiting Lecturer

Human Biology

The University of Chester’s Centre for Foundation Studies is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer to teach human biology for the foundation year of our four-year degrees

The Centre for Foundation Studies teaches over 350 students undertaking the first (foundation) year of their four-year integrated bachelor’s degree prior to progressing into faculties. Our teaching focus is on transition to higher education and there is an expectation that all teaching staff are able to support student engagement and retention and progression strategies.

Applicants will typically be qualified to master’s level, with experience of teaching and assessment. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to use their interest in the subject area to enthuse students in interactive groups. The current hourly rate of pay for Visiting Lecturer work is £53.61 per hour.

The module The Human Body, Health & Disease requires the Visiting Lecturer to deliver content introducing students to fundamental concepts of human biology such as the structure and functions of the body systems as well as key anatomical terms. Your lectures will complement the other elements of the module, namely the sociology of health and academic skills.

We are anticipating up to 13.5 hours of lectures per week, for nine weeks over Term 2 (commencing week beginning 11th of January).

The hourly rate includes development of some new learning materials to accompany current materials, and the creation and marking of students’ assessments.

Interviews will be held via MS Teams on Wednesday the 18th of November and will involve a teaching task.

If you are interested in any of these positions please send an expression of interest with your CV to foundationyears@chester.ac.uk

Please do not complete the online application form.

The closing date is Thursday 12th of November 2026
