Production Technician – Hudson Institute Cell Therapies

An exciting opportunity is currently available for a Production Technician to join the Cell Therapies platform at Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Australia's leading Medical Research Institute.

This position will work closely with a small, skilled, collaborative team to support the preparation and production of clinical grade cellular therapy products contributing to a purpose driven mission that can profoundly impact patients’ lives. Working within the Monash Medical Centre Precinct, you will collaborate closely with Monash Health clinicians, nursing staff, pathology services and cell therapy teams to support both standard-of-care transplantation services and cutting-edge cellular therapy clinical trials.

Typical activities for this role include:

• Conduct supervised aseptic manipulation and processing of human cells, and blood components in an ISO 8 cleanroom environment, adhering to NATA and GMP requirements.
• Prepare processing kits, materials, and sterile equipment for production processes.
• Prepare documentation prior to and post processing.
• Perform routine daily operational tasks to support the function of the HICT facility, including but not limited to temperature monitoring, inventory/ material control, and facility cleaning.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on laboratory and processing equipment (e.g. centrifuges, Biological Safety Cabinets and cryogenic systems).
• Complete and maintain accurate quality system documentation, including batch records, forms, logs, and reports in accordance with GMP and ISO15189 standards.
• Perform facility environmental monitoring, equipment calibrations, checks and scheduled maintenance activities.
• Use laboratory software systems such as Quality Management Systems (QMS) and equipment monitoring platforms and other IT office tools (e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Suite).
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes and operational efficiency.
• Work occasional flexible hours, including after-hours or weekends, depending on production schedules and clinical requirements.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

• Comfortable with working in a regulated laboratory (e.g. NATA ISO15189, ISO17025, ISO20387 or similar) and hospital setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks in a precise and consistent manner.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a shared focus on patient care.
• Applies knowledge and skills to a varied range of different tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or after-hours as needed to support urgent processing and patient needs.
• A Diploma or Degree in Science (Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent) with relevant work experience; or
• Experience working in a regulated laboratory setting such as blood bank, transfusion service, pathology lab or cell processing facility.
• Up-to-date and valid WWCC and National Police Check required.

Highly Desired:

• Experience in working in a regulated laboratory setting such as a blood bank, transfusion service, pathology lab, or cell processing facility.
• In-depth knowledge of NATA ISO15189. Previous exposure to GMP, TGA, or NATA-accredited environments.
• Experience in cleanroom operations, and biosafety cabinets, including aseptic processing, performing calculations, performing dilutions.
• Familiarity with blood component processing, cell separation techniques, or cryopreservation methods.
• Strong understanding of aseptic technique, quality documentation, and laboratory workflows.
• In depth-knowledge of cell therapy, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

This position is a fixed term contract role for 12 months in a full-time capacity. Salary is based on Technical, Administrative and Professional Staff scale, TAP 4. Superannuation of 12.5% and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
