Descrição do projeto

Center for Proton Therapy, Paul Scherrer Institute

Professorship ad personam for Proton Therapy 100 %

Start of employment immediately, permanent employment

At the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), a position for a Senior Physician in Proton Radiation Therapy is to be filled at the earliest possible date. The position is combined with a 20% appointment as a Professor ad personam at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich and at the Department of Radiation Oncology of the University Hospital Zurich. It is planned that, subject to appropriate qualifications, the selected candidate will have the opportunity within 1–2 years after her/his start to assume leadership of the Center for Proton Therapy.

You are a dynamic and integrative individual with extensive expertise in proton radiation therapy, including the clinical care of patients. You hold a specialist qualification in radiation oncology/radiotherapy or an equivalent qualification and you have comprehensive clinical experience across the entire field of radiation oncology, including pediatric oncology, as well as clinical and scientific expertise in particle therapy and high-precision radiation therapy. A habilitation or an equivalent academic qualification is required. You have published in relevant scientific journals and possess experience in leading research projects, successfully acquiring competitive third-party funding as a principal investigator, as well as enthusiasm in teaching students and fostering early-career academics. Your participatory and goal-oriented leadership approach ensures an attractive working environment for academic and clinical specialists.

The University of Zurich is a highly attractive institution for cutting edge research with plenty of opportunities for collaborations across its faculties and with its university hospitals. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the existing as well as new collaborations between the university hospitals and the PSI.

The PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. It conducts cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation, and the fundamentals of nature. Through both basic and applied research, PSI works on sustainable solutions to key challenges facing society, science, and industry. The Center for Proton Therapy combines clinical patient care with cutting edge scientific research. Thanks to its strong national network and its active international research activities, it enjoys an excellent global reputation.

German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.

The University of Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute are equal opportunities employers and in particular strive to increase the percentage of women in leading positions. Therefore, qualified female researchers are encouraged to apply.

Both institutions see researchers as modern leadership personalities who conduct excellent research - taking into account the Open Science principles - through their own research projects, promote excellent young researchers and who help to shape a forward-looking university with innovative research-based teaching.
