About the Role:

The Curtin School of Allied Health is seeking to appoint a permanent Teaching Academic Lecturer in Social Work, at level B (0.6FTE). This role is central to the Curtin School of Allied Health’s commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, and to providing a rigorous, inclusive and engaging student experience across the Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work (Qualifying).

We are seeking critically reflective and student-centred social work practitioners and/or educators who can design and deliver high-quality teaching across a range of content areas, coordinate units effectively, support diverse learners, and contribute to curriculum quality, innovation and the scholarship of learning and teaching. Collegiality is important at both the social work program level and the broader School level, including through active contribution to program development and interprofessional practice across the Curtin School of Allied Health (CSAH).

The successful applicant will bring relevant social work expertise, contemporary practice knowledge, and a commitment to contributing to the continued growth, quality and impact of our social work programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design and deliver inclusive, engaging learning activities across various formats (online, face-to-face) to enhance student learning outcomes and readiness for practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to innovate curriculum and develop effective learning materials, while assessing student needs and providing necessary support.
• Maintaining awareness of current discipline practices and contributing to professional development in higher education.
• Assess and provide feedback on learning to students.
• Manage administrative tasks related to course delivery, including assessment moderation, and ensure that curricular innovations accommodate diverse student needs for a successful university experience.
• Participate as an active member of the social work program and CSAH in meetings, working groups and engagement activities as required.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria):

1. Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
2. Masters degree or PhD.

3. An understanding of or willingness to develop knowledge of pedagogy and contemporary educational practice relevant to social work.
4. Demonstrated capacity / experience to coordinate activities and/or projects with the ability to apply these to unit coordination.
5. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills
6. Demonstrated commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with sensitivity.
7. Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
8. Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, critical perspectives in social work and social work ethics.
9. Demonstrated capacity to facilitate learning using a reflective approach.

Desirable

1. An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.

What We Offer You:

This is a part time (0.6 FTE) permanent, teaching academic position, with a salary range between $

121,857 - $144,352 (ALB) per annum, plus 17% superannuation.
