About the Role:

The Curtin School of Allied Health is seeking to appoint a permanent Teaching and Research (T&R) Academic, Senior Lecturer in Social Work. This role is central to the Curtin School of Allied Health’s commitment to excellence in scholarly teaching practices and research standing across the Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work (Qualifying).

We are seeking a critically reflective and student-centred social work educator and researcher who can design and deliver high-quality teaching across a range of content areas and lead and contribute to research and higher degree supervision. Collegiality is important at both the social work program level and the broader School level, including through active contribution to program development and interprofessional practice across the Curtin School of Allied Health (CSAH). The successful applicant will bring relevant social work expertise and a commitment to the continued growth, quality and impact of our social work curriculum and program research.

Your responsibilities will include:

Teaching

• Design and deliver inclusive, engaging learning activities across various formats (online, face-to-face) to enhance student learning outcomes and readiness for practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to innovate curriculum and develop effective learning materials, while assessing student needs and providing necessary support.
• Maintaining awareness of current discipline practices and contributing to professional development in higher education.
• Assess and provide feedback on learning to students.
• Manage administrative tasks related to course delivery, including assessment moderation, and ensure that curricular innovations accommodate diverse student needs for a successful university experience.
• Participate as an active member of the social work program and CSAH in meetings, working groups and engagement activities as required.

Research

• Play a significant role in research projects, including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team/project.
• Actively seek and act as co or chief investigator in applications for competitive research grants and/or fellowships.
• Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops and conferences.
• Publish/exhibit in high-quality refereed journals/outlets in manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
• Undertake principal supervision of research honours, research masters, and research doctoral students.
• Provide research support and mentoring of social work colleagues as appropriate.

Service and Leadership

• Provide leadership in relation to school/faculty–wide initiatives
• Contribute to academic engagement and collegiality, in fostering a supportive working environment.
• Participate in community engagement and external activities relevant to social work.
• Demonstrate professional behaviours consistent with the AASW Code of Ethics and the University Code of Conduct and Vision, Mission and Values.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria):

1. Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
2. A doctoral qualification in social work or a discipline relevant to social work.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of pedagogies appropriate to and in keeping with contemporary educational practice relevant to social work.
4. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination.
5. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills
6. Demonstrated commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with sensitivity.
7. Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
8. An established record of research outputs in refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with social work.
9. Record of obtaining research income, including competitive research grants and/or fellowships.

This is a full time permanent, teaching & research academic position, with a salary range between $148,847 - $171,344 (ALC) per annum, plus 17% superannuation.
