It was created with Italian… The CMCC Foundation — Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici) — is a non-profit research foundation established in 2005 and headquartered in Lecce, with divisions in Bologna, Venice, Milan, Viterbo, Caserta and Sassari. It was created with Italian government funding to provide scientific results and decision support on climate. CMCC works on Earth system modelling, ocean prediction and climate services, regional models and geo-hydrological impacts, climate simulation and prediction, economic analysis of climate impacts and policy, and risk assessment for society and the environment. It runs one of the larger supercomputing facilities dedicated to climate science in Europe, contributes models and simulations to the CMIP exercises that underpin the IPCC assessment reports, and provides operational climate and marine services to public administrations and industry.
