CSIRO research spans agriculture and food, energy, health and biosecurity, manufacturing, minerals, space and astronomy, environment and digital science, and it operates national research facilities such as the research vessel Investigator and the Australia Telescope National Facility. Its work has produced wireless LAN technology, polymer banknotes (with the Reserve Bank of Australia) and Aerogard. Through its Industry PhD programme (iPhD) it co-funds doctoral projects with Australian universities and industry partners.
