Research at the institute is pioneering in molecular and developmental biology: it… The Hubrecht Institute is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) for developmental biology and stem cell research, situated on the Utrecht Science Park. Research at the institute is pioneering in molecular and developmental biology: it encompasses around twenty research groups that perform fundamental, multidisciplinary research on healthy and diseased cells, tissues and organisms. Since 2008 the Hubrecht has been affiliated with UMC Utrecht, which allowed it to grow into an internationally renowned institute and strengthened the link with preclinical and clinical research. The institute's research covers many aspects of molecular and developmental biology, including signalling in stem cells and early development, cardiac development and regeneration, epigenetics and genome architecture, cell-cycle control, single-cell biology and organoid technology, the field in which its groups have been world leading. The Hubrecht Institute has a partnership with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) based on shared institutional goals, scientific synergy and complementarity, and it hosts core facilities for imaging, sequencing and animal models used across the Utrecht life-sciences community. The Hubrecht Institute recruits PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, group leaders, technicians and research support staff, and offers internships to master's students. Vacancies are published on its own site in English, and employment follows the collective labour agreement of the Dutch research institutes.
