It admits… The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca (Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca) is a public graduate school and research institute founded in 2005, housed in the restored San Francesco complex — a fourteenth-century monastery — in the centre of Lucca. It admits doctoral students by international competition and provides them with accommodation and a stipend on a residential campus. IMT is deliberately interdisciplinary, organised around a small number of research units rather than conventional departments. Its work spans economics, management and complex networks; computer science, control and system analysis; neuroscience and cognitive science; and the analysis and management of cultural heritage. It is regularly placed among the highest-performing Italian institutions in national research assessment, and its doctoral programme is conducted entirely in English.
