The Postdoctoral Research Associate Clinical Imaging will build and clinically translate new cancer targeting technologies based on Artificial Intelligence and x-ray imaging that solve the challenges of complex patient motion during radiation therapy.

Based at South Eveleigh, the Image X Institute’s research portfolio spans development of new treatment ideas, clinical trials, preclinical imaging, device development, radiation therapy physics, and computational physics. We engage with industry, hospitals, international collaborators and universities to forge relationships that help take our projects from lab bench to patient bedside. Enjoy working in a supportive environment with access to unique medical data sets and a chance to make practice changing impacts in real time image guidance for cancer radiotherapy.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • advance the algorithms of imaging and targeted radiation therapy
  • create, develop and experimentally and clinically implement AI based algorithms
  • support the acquisition and analysis of clinical data, and imaging, software and equipment infrastructure
  • contribute to scientific publications, research dissemination and the development of competitive funding proposals
  • undertake clinical site visits to support technology installation, testing and implementation, as required.
  • About you

  • completion or nearing completion of PhD in physics, computer science, applied mathematics or biomedical engineering or relevant discipline
  • demonstrated track record of publishing research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • knowledge of software and mathematical algorithm development, especially in artificial intelligence
  • some experience supporting the clinical integration, implementation and translation of research technologies into clinical practice.
  • some experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including radiation oncologists, medical physicists, engineers and other clinical professionals.
  • Sponsorship / work rights for Australia

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
