Established in its present form and location in 2000, it brings together the Rotterdam Conservatoire, the Rotterdam Dance Academy and the Codarts Circus Arts programme, and it teaches under the motto "Play. Move. Explore. Become." Codarts offers bachelor's and master's programmes in classical music, jazz, pop, world music, music theatre, music education, dance, dance education and circus arts, together with a master's in arts therapies. Its research is organised in research groups (lectoraten) on themes including performing arts medicine, the health and wellbeing of performers, and artistic research in music and dance, and it works with Rotterdam's cultural institutions, orchestras and companies. Codarts is an open organisation that follows the Dutch code of good governance for universities of applied sciences. Codarts recruits teaching artists and lecturers, researchers and professors of applied sciences, together with educational and support staff, and publishes its vacancies on its own "werken bij Codarts" page.
