About us:

Prof. Sarah Hedtrich, the recently appointed Chair of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at LMU Munich, is now recruiting ambitious candidates to help build a dynamic research lab in Munich.

The Hedtrich’s lab mission is to understand and tackle mechanisms of inflammatory and genetic diseases of human epithelia and translate these insights into meaningful therapeutic strategies. We tackle complex biological questions through highly interdisciplinary approaches, working at the interface of pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, and medicine in close collaboration with leading experts across fields. We are building a driven, collaborative, and forward-thinking team, and we are looking for curious, motivated individuals who want to make a tangible impact through cutting-edge research.

We are looking for you:

Postdoc (m/f/x)

in München

Your tasks and responsibilities:

The project Bioengineering Complex Disease Models of Epithelia aims for the generation, validation and application of human epithelial models including organ-on-chip approaches to emulate inflammatory and infectious diseases of the skin and lungs. Following successful generation, the models will be leveraged to unravel disease-related mechanisms in single state and multi-organ settings. The development of own research projects and ideas will be encouraged. Our projects have a strong translational aspect with the ultimate goal to translate our technology from bench-to-bedside. Hence, interest in translational work at the forefront of science is a clear asset. Further, the establishment of an independent profile as well as tailored career-planning will be offered to the successful incumbent.

Your qualifications:

  • Applicants with expertise in human-based disease modeling, bioengineering, (primary) cell culture, and standard biomolecular methods such as ELISA, Western Blot, qPCR will be preferred
  • Further, experience with iPSCs and/or organ-on-chip devices are considered strong assets.
  • Applicants should have a background in biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, or a related field with relevant experience.
  • Successful candidates will be expected to take the lead within these projects, to publish manuscripts as a first author, and to present their data at conferences and lab meetings.
  • High levels of participation in a collaborative team setting, a high degree of self-motivation, time management skills, and an ability to demonstrate creativity and sound judgment will be required.

Benefits:

  • Remuneration is based on TV-L in pay group E 13 (100%), taking into account all previous periods of employment - oeffentlicher-dienst.info
  • The contracted term will be for one year, from which further extensions will be possible.
  • Professional development and training programs at all career stages
  • Participation in professional symposiums and conferences
  • Health promotion initiatives
