Project Description

MunichFull-timeEnglish

Join the founding team developing the connectivity layer for future quantum technologies — at the intersection of quantum optics, hardware engineering and scalable infrastructure.

Electronics Engineer — Analog & Digital Control

You make the machine's electronics work as one quiet, reliable system. You select and integrate commercial instruments, design custom boards where nothing suitable exists, and turn the lab setup into a rack-ready product.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and test custom analog electronics, above all low-noise, fast-switching current drivers for magnetic coils
  • Select, integrate and characterise commercial hardware: ARTIQ/Sinara control, RF chains for AOMs and EOMs, laser locks, detectors and time taggers
  • Own the timing and synchronisation architecture: clock distribution, trigger chains and latency budgets
  • Own noise, grounding, shielding and EMC across the rack
  • Build the laser-safety interlocks and the monitoring hardware needed for unattended operation
  • Design PCBs for custom boards, document all designs and support CE and EMC compliance

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering or physics (MSc, Dipl.-Ing. or PhD)
  • 3+ years of hands-on electronics work, including low-noise analog design from schematic to tested board
  • PCB design (Altium, KiCad or similar)
  • Experience integrating instruments into larger systems; confident with oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analysers

Nice to have

  • Electronics for physics or quantum-technology labs
  • ARTIQ/Sinara or other FPGA-based control systems; FPGA development (VHDL or Verilog)
  • RF design; EMC and CE testing

What we offer

  • A founding-team role with real ownership of a first-of-its-kind machine
  • A new quantum-optics lab in the Munich area
  • Competitive salary and employee equity (VSOP)
  • Close ties to the European quantum ecosystem; conference and training budget
  • English as working language
