Its historic seat is the Ca' Granda, the fifteenth-century Ospedale Maggiore in the centre of Milan, and its faculties are distributed across the city and at the science campus in Città Studi, with a new campus being developed at MIND, the former Expo 2015 site. La Statale is the only Italian university that belongs to the League of European Research Universities (LERU). It teaches the full range of disciplines through more than thirty departments, including medicine and surgery, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, agricultural and food sciences, law, political and social sciences, the humanities, and the physical, mathematical and natural sciences. Its research is particularly visible in the life sciences, agri-food science, physics and law, and the university hosts a number of nationally designated Departments of Excellence.
