It teaches around 33,000 students in six schools and eighteen departments, covering economics, law, engineering, medicine and surgery, mathematics, physics and natural sciences, and the humanities. Tor Vergata is a strong research university in physics and astrophysics, mathematics, biomedicine and the neurosciences, economics and econometrics, and engineering; it hosts the Policlinico Tor Vergata teaching hospital, and its proximity to the ESA-ESRIN centre at Frascati and the INFN Frascati National Laboratories supports work in space science and particle physics.
