Founded in 1986, it is known for the modern architecture of its Zwolle campus, including the X-building, and it offers full-time, part-time and dual bachelor's programmes, associate degrees, professional master's programmes and courses, together with practice-oriented research. Windesheim's domains cover business, media and law; technology; health and welfare; education and teacher training; and, in Almere, a broad multidisciplinary offering serving the Flevoland region. Its research groups and knowledge centres, led by professors of applied sciences (lectoren), work on themes such as healthy living and vital ageing, sustainable and circular technology, entrepreneurship and digitalisation, inclusive education and youth, in close cooperation with companies, schools, health-care organisations and municipalities in the Zwolle and Almere regions. Windesheim recruits lecturers and lecturer-researchers, researchers and professors of applied sciences, together with educational and support staff. Vacancies are published on its own recruitment site.
